Either way, there is plenty happening at Post 13 this month.

The October issue opens with a look back at the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the 1944 campaign that followed General Douglas MacArthur’s return to the Philippines.

Commander Dennis Hall also checks in with his October message. While October may provide a little breathing room between a busy September and November, preparations are already underway for the Veterans Day Breakfast on November 11 and the Post Holiday Party on December 20.

One of this month’s standout features asks a great question: “Have You Ever Time Traveled?” Carl Smith takes readers back to Post 13’s July 4 celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

The October newsletter also highlights the four Tallahassee-area students selected by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13 for Florida Girls State, including their experiences with government, leadership, and public service.

And if you are wondering what is happening around the Post, the answer is: a lot. October programming includes live music, dance lessons and social dancing, veterans legal services, Games Night, Halloween activities, and a special appearance by comedian Killer Beaz on October 15.
